55gal tanganyika tank journal
so i started my tang tank setup just a few days ago. using a 55gal. painted the back glass black. black stand, black canopy. using 3 sponge filters that were seeded from prior tanks.
and my cf500uv aquatop canister filter. substrate is a crushed coral mixed with a unknown playsand i got from my grandma. washed the play sand. added hornwort and a anubias to help cycle the tank. been running for 4 days now. i also caught 4 wild crayfish to test the water and they have been fine in there for 3 days so it should be done cycling soon. working on siliconing some hardscape today.

well looks good from here. so your not goin to use an under gravil filter? i like to use under gravil filters for fresh water, and chilid tanks. It looks good and looks like a clean set up. keep us posted.

ya it just makes the water go throught the substrate much easyer and more effective and on top of that it can make one hell of a filter lol
