350 Gallon system.

Post by Bluesaltwater87 on Fri Feb 17, 2012 12:01 pm

The idea in the 575 gallon system was shut down fast dew to no funds.
so i have redused the tank size and the system to acomplish what i am looking to make.
so i am goin to go with a 345 gallon system.
(this is the system i want to build for myself but i can make many disighns for anyone on here)
1) 150 gallon display tank
2) 80-100 gallon sump with wet/dry filter and all skimmers
3) 40 gallon hospital/breeder tank (optianal)
4) 55 gallon refugum (optianal)
5) L.E.D. lighting to all tanks.
6) a heater in each tank except display.

this is the setup i have discided on going with. this way i can make both the main display and the refuge a display as well.
This way it looks like 2 tanks are on display insted of one. and on top of that i wont have to stumble around under a stand to do stuff.
tell me what you tank and if you want i have many disigns to chose from that anyone can have.
please tell me what you think.

well in the refugum i will have a deep sandbed with a lot of saltwater plants in it with some mangrove saplings as well as a frag rack so they can acclimate with the water and lighting. I have breed shrimps befor but it is hard to pair them up and get it to happen. as far as fish it just depends on the breed. clowns are easy and some damsiles are good starters. when i had my big tank i had 2 blue face angels that i got in a trade and they mated 2 times and i sold the babys at 35 bucks a piece and there were about 200 babys. i sold them to a few stores and a few local hobbyiest.

but the only thing about this setup is that the hospital/breeder tank is not conected to the system it is a standing tank but i fill it with tank water.

yes you are correct but it is part of my system. Very Happy
it is not connected but i will have a spout that will go to the tank and fill it and that is it. but the reasion for it is so i will have no need to aclimate the fish to make a chang in tanks.

Post by Bluesaltwater87 on Thu Feb 23, 2012 8:32 pm

ok i dont have a lot of money so i am saving up right now.
but here is my secret.
I dont pay shipping and handling.
see for instance the led panal is 39.99
with shipping it would be another 7 to 20 bucks.
i do however have to pay tax but it is 3.20 for one.
so when i save up enough and get all the parts i build the system.
now, i have the 40 gallon tank
and the 55 gallon tank and heater for them both
I traid mostly and when i do have to buy i try to get what i want cheap if i can.
but i figur i will spend about 700 bucks total on the stuff i need to buy.
but the total cost for the system would be about 1100 to 1500 after i am done.
when i was planing the 575 system i was planing to save and spend close to 5 or 6 grand. but this is much cheaper
