gunk in tanganyika tank?

ive got this white junk that keeps building up inside my filter hoses or something because whenever i clean the filter out it blows this crap around my tank after. anyone know what it is? i thought it was just protein or something but just wanted to see if anyone else has this crap..

I have something similar but not white its looks like some type of plant matter yellowish , it builds up in the tubes and gets pushed out by the air when starting the filter up again. Not sure what it is .

ya i probably have the same thing then i only have some anubias and valisneria in my tank..

what is the water hardness in your area.
do you have a problem with water stains or hard water buildup?

my water is relatively neutral. it comes out of the tap at 7ph. but it added crushed coral to the substrate so it will raise it slowly right now its at 7.6 and there is a little hard water staining on the top of the glass where the water is evaporating. tanks been running for 3 months now..

ok well the only thing i can think of as far as a yellow buildup in air tubing is hardwater or it might be some chems you use in your tank 2.

i do add weekly amounts of liquid ferts but it is severely under dosed.

ok well the only way that will happen in the air line is if the line is under water. if that is the fact than you may have just found the answer. other than that the only thing else i can think of is you are using an airisol cleaner neer the air pump.

no airisols anywhere. but the airline is under the water but the junk is inside the water pump not the airline.

yeps i added coral to up the ph naturally

awww ok ya than what that can be is a calsium buildup from it. is it hard?

i dont know. my test strips are really only accurate on ph lol. i need to get some high quality ones but im cheap
