YEY AND booooooo

Ok i just set up a system yesterday. it is a 55 gallon saltwater tank with one 10gallon tank (refugum) and a 10Gallon tank (wet/dry trickel) and a 5 gallon for the return. that is the good

next i whent to the freshwater system i have for a person and he calls while i am working on the new 55 gallon and says there is brown slime all over the gravel......
I whent to said persons house and low and behold (BEARD ALGEA)........ it took me 2 hours to clean the tank. that is the bad

than today....omg.... i got a call at 3 in the mornin..... "all my fish are dead"....... so i get up and go to the guys house and he says everything has been fine and that he has modified the plumbing *that i did* because the fish store guy told him to add a "spray bar" ok sounds good so far......but...... insted of calling me to take care of it he gos to home depot to "do it himself" well it is a 140 gallon tank and uses a 100 gallon sump. He got all the parts and installed the parts turned it on and as hi says "looked great and preformed awsome" than after about 3 days a fish dies. and 2 days later 2 more. after about 2 weeks (now presant day) he calls to tell me there all dead. the reasion why his fish were dieing were because he decided to use.....copper fittings and piping on a pvc plumbing system........ after about 2 days of constant flow through it the copper it started to flake little metal flakes in the tank. fish breath and die. i told him you NEVER use copper on a aquarium system of any kind. now his tank needs to be cleaned and restalked with fish. and just as a side note here he had well over 1000 bucks in fish in the tank. the just plane stupid

I do not get paid to help my friends and family when i work on there systems but that guy..... just got under my skin.... I wish i could get paid to do this. o well.

wow from the sounds of it, it sound slike a job , but u dont get paid? u should start an aquarium maintanence bussiness

I wish i could or at least get in to one. but there arnt many around here and when i ask no one is hireing. but i would love to but i dont have that kind of money to do it. right now. but it is for my friends and my family. they were there when i needed help so i am just payin them back. but ya if you hear of any in sacramento hireing doin aquarium maintanence and system installs. it would be soooooo much fun. well for me. i like to do it.

start your own , post ad's on craiglsit saying that u can do that

i would i really would but i still need money for gas lol. right now i am goin to 2 schools and working full time. and have to keep the wife happy as well so my plate has no money lol

ya. I know i can do it i will just have to set it up to were they buy the parts and i just do the work for a fee.

then how is that a job lol thats just free labor , u should set up a sidejob and u buy the parts from a cheap source and u set up there tank and charge for labor and parts ,

i know a few plaes like that but in order to get the really cheap price you need a bussness lisence number and paperwork that shows your a biz. i dont have the moola for that lol

i knew copper was bad for inverts... is it just as bad for saltwater? i know u can use copper in freshwater...

i know but i try not to use it in any aplication because it is cheaper for one and it is easyer to put together and i think it is just good practise all around.
